I did my little video and progress picture thing this morning. Also, when I jumped on the scale I was 280lbs. Now I know majority of that was probably water weight, but I was still happy to see that after one day of switching things up. I haven’t eaten since around noon or one yesterday. I thought I would’ve been hungrier, but I guess I keep my fluids up enough to fight off the hunger. I’m trying to decide whether or not I want to cut out all soda and crystal light as well. I brought in some of the Costco meatballs for lunch to break my fast (haha breakfast at lunch…bad pun), so I hope I have enough shredded cheese in the fridge. I wish I had some mustard to go with this mayo jar I have at work. I like the mix of these two condiments. The flavor I mean. I need to do my pushups and squats because I’ve been slipping since last week. I was in the bed when I remembered to do them last night, but I was already pretty much down for the count. Speaking of down for the count, I notice that when I don’t eat or when I’m fasting, I can sleep forever. It took me a long time to actually wake up at my normal schedule this morning, and I fell asleep earlier than I usually do. I need to start going to sleep around 2100 instead. I made it all the way to 1230 before I had anything to eat. Maybe it was 1215, but it was pretty close. So I guess I’m good to go for the next 24 hours. I’m not hungry anymore after the meatballs, I guess I had to wait for them to start being digested or something. I feel like an idiot right now lol.
Ok, so I did my weigh-in today and I was 262.4 lbs. So I lost exactly three pounds since last Monday. I’m a little disappointed because I thought it would’ve been more than that, but then I realized something. When I was doing really well before, I was tracking pretty much everything I ate. I mean everything. Almost to the point where it was borderline OCD. But you know what? I saw some good results. So maybe I need to start tracking my calories. Believe it or not, I don’t think I ate ENOUGH calories this week and it possibly slowed down my metabolism. I know I’ve read that somewhere, but I can’t recall at the moment.
Anyway, I was using MFP before which is pretty cool for a few reasons. It has an extensive library of foods that you can log for your daily calories, and you can make your own entry if it’s not in there. Another thing is that it has a pretty good graphic representation of your weight loss progress. Overall, it’s just easy to use. And the people on there are really positive. This thing is inaccurate by the way. I was actually closer to 330 lbs., but I was too embarrassed to put that so I didn’t actually start making entries until I got under. You can see how well I was doing last year before I quit for absolutely no good reason and my weight crept back up.
I’ve met some great users on WordPress over this past week, and I’ve seen a lot of awesome recipes. I plan on trying some once I actually go to the grocery store. Keep calm and keto on everyone, lol.
I wasn’t planning on writing anything until next week when I normally do my updates, but I just wanted to share my new keto snack that I’m gonna include in my diet from now on.
I was at Target the other day (which I hate btw, because the shoppers there are delusional and think Target is somehow better than Wal-Mart even though they have most of the same items but cost more at Target for whatever reason). Anyway, I’m in the snack isle looking for pork skins, or Chicharrones, or whatever you wanna call them. I go look at the, ahem, nuts and see all the different types of almonds and peanuts. 6 oz. cans for $5? No thank you. And then I saw them. Those glorious, conveniently packaged morsels of goodness.
Apparently, the uppity crowd at Target is too good for almonds so these things were on sale for about $3.75 a box. AND the promotion was buy 3, get 1 free. Yes, yes, yes, and yes. I bought four boxes (two dark chocolate and two vanilla bean). These things are great for when you have a sweet tooth or when you don’t have any food readily prepared and you’re pretty hungry at that moment. Another plus is that there are only 2g of carbs per serving (four minus two from fiber), so you can kill a whole box of these and only have eaten 14g of carbs. I wouldn’t personally because I don’t wanna waste 700 calories on just almonds when I could waste them on bacon or angus patties with mayo and cheese. Just a happy thought for all those almond fanatics out there.
I’ll be doing my weigh-in on Monday, so look for that! I really hope they sell these boxes at Wal-Mart.
Ok, so this week I dropped 4.8 lbs and I’m currently at 265.4. Some people would be estatic about this, but I’m not some people. I think I could’ve lost more. But then again, I don’t think I’m fully in ketosis again yet. I just got a slight hint of the fruity taste yesterday. Maybe I should lay off the Crystal Light for a week and see if that’s really it.
Side note: what I mean by “fruity taste” is a little hard to describe, but I’ll try. Basically, some people in keto get a weird, somewhat sweet taste in their mouths. I’m not sure of an exact timeframe when this usually occurs in the whole keto process, and I really don’t think it can be gauged since everyone is different. For me, when I’m in deep keto, the taste is really strong upon waking up and if I don’t eat anything for a long time. Long being 6+ hours.
Anyway, there’s that. The last update, I said I sprained my knee. That was actually only a few weeks ago (tomorrow wil be three weeks since that happened). Needless to say, it’s been hard to do any type of exercise. I can’t wait till my knee is 100% again…I’ve been aching to do some exercise since I hurt myself and I’ve even tried to run a few times the past week. They’ve ended in epic fails, but they haven’t been discouraging. Before, I could barely walk so I’m happy with my progress as far as getting around. Well that’s all I got for now, so I’ll check in again soon.
I mentioned Caveman Keto before when talking about different ways to start a ketosis diet. I also mentioned that he has a lot of good recipes up on his site. What I’m not sure about is if I actually posted any of those recipes before on Ketosthenics, so I guess I’ll do that today.
I’m a little late this week for my update, but I actually just started going back to college this past Monday. So once again, I apologize for the delay. That being said, here goes nothin.
Hey everybody, I apologize for not writing this sooner. I meant to put these out every Monday, but life happens right? Anyway? I’m currently at 240.4 lbs as of Sunday morning, so it could be less. Mind you now, when I first started writing this blog I was at 256. That’s 16 lbs just about in a month and a half, probably shorter. You see this keto stuff works, right? And I actually came out of ketosis for about a week and I was having a little trouble getting back in. So there you go.
